I had waited until Chris had dozed off before I quietly slipped out of his bed. For a moment, I stood at the bedside, gazing down at him. With the sheet tangled around his hips, and his beautiful, well-toned body loose and relaxed, he looked like a piece of artwork.

Watching him sleep, I could almost allow myself to forget that he was a large part of the city’s criminal element, and that it was my mission to betray him.

With a shake of my head, I quickly collected the rest of my clothing, dressed as quietly as I could, and let myself out. Chris hadn’t stirred an inch.
